Identification and use of carving tools
The commonly used cutting tools for carving are divided into four types: flat bottomed pointed knives, straight knives (cylindrical knives), milling cutters, and three-dimensional irregular knives& nbsp;
The establishment of carving tools can be completed by clicking on any of the three options "2D", "3D", and "Cut" in the Wentai carving software to enter the tool library; The "center pointed tool" in the tool library is a very idealized tool and is generally not used to calculate the tool path.
1. Flat bottomed sharp knife W1: represents the diameter of the tool handle, commonly used handle diameters include Φ 3.175, Φ 4, Φ 6, root;
Set as needed& nbsp;
W2: represents the width of the blade tip, which directly affects the carving effect. When setting, it should be as accurate as possible, and a ruler with higher precision can be used as a rough reference& nbsp;
A: Half of the angle between the two edges of the blade tip, if it is a 30 ° tool, then A is set to 15, and so on& nbsp;
Carvable materials: two-color board, PVC board, organic glass, ABS board, etc& nbsp;
Cutting materials: two-color board, ABS board& nbsp;
Principle of using a knife: When carving small characters, use a W2 or A small knife, and when carving large characters, try to use a large knife to improve processing speed; The selection of cutting tools is based on the narrowest stroke; When necessary, without affecting the font effect, node editing can be used to modify strokes for easier path cutting; 30 ° cutting tools are commonly used for carving chest badges; If the character is too small, you can replace it with a single line and use 'cut' to calculate the path.
2. Straight blade (column blade) W1: The width of the front end of the cutting edge of the tool, commonly 2MM and 1.5MM, is generally set slightly smaller. Due to the convenience of chip removal at one end of the front, one side of the blade is ground, so the actual width is slightly smaller& nbsp;
H1: The length of the cutting edge of the tool, and the height of the material being cut should be lower than the length of the edge. Generally, H1 is set to about 5MM& nbsp;
Carvable materials: two-color board, PVC board, organic glass, ABS board, etc& nbsp;
Cutting materials: two-color board, ABS board& nbsp;
Therefore, this type of cutting tool is mostly used for carving large characters on department signs, also known as department sign knives, but the carving effect is slightly inferior to flat bottomed pointed knives of the same width. The edge of the material it cuts is straight, while the edge of the material cut by the flat bottomed sharp knife has a slanted edge, and the degree of inclination depends on the angle of the tool. The larger the angle, the greater the edge inclination& nbsp;
3. Milling cutter W1: The width of the front end of the cutting tool, commonly used tool holder diameters are Φ 3.175, Φ 4, and Φ 6; If the thickness of the cutting material is less than 10MM for small characters, the use of a Φ 3.175 knife to cut the characters will cause deformation. Sometimes, a variable handle tool with a handle diameter changed from Φ 3.175 to a front end of Φ 2 or Φ 1.5 is also used for cutting& nbsp;
H1: Blade length, the thickness of the cutting material should be lower than its blade length. Generally, H1 is divided into the following types based on the thickness of the material (2mm more than the cutting material for easier chip removal)& nbsp;
12mm: Cut materials of 10MM and below;
17mm: Cut 15mm material;
22mm: Cut 20MM material (PVC is mostly used with a diameter of 3.175; acrylic is used with a diameter of 4);
Carvable materials: PVC board, organic glass, wooden board, etc& nbsp;
Cutting materials: PVC board, organic glass, wooden board, etc& nbsp;
Principle of using a knife: It is not recommended to use a 22mm tool to cut materials of 10MM or less, as it may cause the knife to break; When there is no 22mm cutting tool and 20MM material needs to be cut, a temporary 17mm cutting tool can be used to achieve layered cutting& nbsp;
4. The three-dimensional irregular knife is also known as a large head knife because it is different from the commonly used alloy handle material that directly grinds various carving tools required for work. Instead, it is welded with various shapes of cutting heads under the handle of the Φ 6 through special welding technology, and is directly used for carving processing of various special shapes& nbsp;
W1: The diameter of the large head knife under the handle is randomly set to 32mm; There are also smaller ones used for cutting;
Cut small 3D characters& nbsp;
A: Half of the angle between the two edges of the blade tip, as the randomly assigned tool is a 90 ° tool, A is set to 45 (similar to a flat bottomed blade);
W2: Blade tip width, because when calculating the three-dimensional path, the path requirement is to pass through with one knife, which is not very meaningful. Usually, it can be set to 0.1 or 0.2& nbsp;
Tool Usage: Used for 3D corner clearing characters (using the "3D" function to calculate paths) and reverse oblique edges for engraved crystal plaques& nbsp;
5. Other cutting tools are specifically designed for milling table bottom cutters; The relief tool used for making reliefs; Various types of lace knives used for making wooden lace.
